The Welsh Girls' 2009 Championship was held at Holyhead Golf Club across a very wet and windy July week. However, the stormy conditions didn't put off the girls from playing some very exciting and skillful golf.
The final match of the tournament, played in glorious sunshine, came down to a head to head between Natasha Gobey and Emma Davies. A match that went all the way to the wire, taking the pair into a sudden death play off, after Natasha had fought back over the last three holes being three down.
On the first of the play off holes Natasha had an eighteen inch putt to secure the trophy but failed to hole out. It was on the second hole that Emma held her nerve and sunk a three foot putt to win this year's championship.
The course was in fantastic condition and the greens were a dream to putt on. Everyone involved had a great time and the staff at Holyhead, who were working flat out throughout the week, did the club proud. We look forward to hosting our next championship tournament.
